Lace

June 11, 2002

Acton, MA
Presenter: Sue Felshin

Summary:

Sue Felshin gave a fantastic presentation on the do's and don'ts of using lace in 18th century reenacting. She provided an overall history of the various types of lace that were available, how and when they were you used and she showed us examples from contemporary painting and extant textiles. In addition, and perhaps even more helpful, were the examples she showed of unacceptable lace. Now we all know what NOT to buy. Many thanks to Sue for her hard work and taking the time to share it with us. Sue's research is on-going and her work-in-progress presentation can be found under online resources.
